Part 4 overtime rules do not cover managers and executives.
Use basic salary, not gross salary. Allowances, bonuses and overtime payments are excluded from the basic rate.
The statutory monthly overtime limit is generally 72 hours unless an exemption applies.
Disclaimer: Estimate only; statutory overtime entitlement depends on Part 4 coverage, employee category, basic salary and any applicable exemption or employment terms.
An Overtime Calculator Singapore helps eligible employees estimate overtime pay for additional hours worked.
Enter your basic salary and overtime hours to receive an estimate. Your actual payment depends on your eligibility, employment terms and verified working-hour records.
How to Use the Overtime Calculator
Enter the basic monthly salary or hourly rate requested by the calculator.
Add the number of overtime hours worked. Check the details, then select Calculate.
Use Reset if you want to perform another calculation.
The calculator result should be compared with your timesheet, payslip and employment contract.
Who Is Entitled to Overtime Pay in Singapore?
The statutory overtime rules under Part 4 of the Employment Act generally cover:
- a workman earning a basic monthly salary of $4,500 or less; and
- a non-workman earning a basic monthly salary of $2,600 or less.
Managers and executives are generally not covered by Part 4.
An employee who is not covered may still receive overtime pay if it is included in the employment contract or company policy.
Use the Salary Calculator Singapore when you need a separate estimate of your overall salary.
How Is Overtime Pay Calculated?
For an eligible monthly-rated employee, MOM uses this general hourly basic-rate formula:
Hourly basic rate = (12 × monthly basic salary) ÷ (52 × 44)
The statutory overtime rate is at least 1.5 times the hourly basic rate of pay.
Estimated overtime pay = hourly basic rate × 1.5 × overtime hours
Use basic salary for this calculation, not gross salary that includes every allowance or payment.
Overtime Calculation Example
Assume an eligible employee has:
- Basic monthly salary: $2,400
- Overtime worked: 10 hours
First, calculate the hourly basic rate:
($2,400 × 12) ÷ (52 × 44) = approximately $12.59
Next, estimate the overtime payment using the unrounded hourly rate:
$12.59 × 1.5 × 10 = approximately $188.81
The estimated overtime pay is about $188.81.
This example assumes the employee is covered by the statutory overtime rules. Rounding and employment terms may cause the actual amount to differ.
What Counts as Overtime?
Overtime generally refers to work performed beyond an employee’s normal working hours.
Extra time does not automatically qualify in every situation. The employee should keep approved and accurate records of the dates and hours worked.
Part 4 employees generally cannot work more than 72 overtime hours in one month unless the employer has obtained an exemption.
If your salary changes because you worked only part of a month, use the Prorated Salary Calculator Singapore for a separate estimate.
Overtime, Leave and Notice Periods
Overtime and annual leave are separate employment matters. The Annual Leave Calculator Singapore can help estimate leave entitlement without mixing it with overtime hours.
When employment is ending, the Notice Period Calculator Singapore can help estimate the final working date. Any unpaid overtime should still be checked against approved records and the final payslip.
Overtime payments may also affect CPF calculations depending on how the payment is classified. Use the CPF Calculator Singapore as an estimate and confirm actual contributions using official records.
Why Might the Estimate Differ From a Payslip?
The result may differ because of:
- incorrect overtime hours;
- use of gross salary instead of basic salary;
- different contractual rates;
- rounding methods;
- work performed on rest days or public holidays; or
- an employee not being covered by Part 4.
Ask the employer or payroll team for a calculation breakdown if the amount is unclear.

A: Use the basic salary requested by the calculator. Do not include allowances, bonuses or other payments unless the calculator specifically asks for them.
