Gold Price Calculator Singapore

Disclaimer: This calculator provides an estimated metal value only. Actual selling prices may differ due to GST treatment, making charges, labour fees, jeweller margins and market conditions.

What Is a Gold Price Calculator Singapore?

A Gold Price Calculator Singapore estimates the metal value of gold using its weight, purity and an entered 24K gold rate.

Select the gold purity, enter the weight in grams and provide the current 24K rate in Singapore dollars per gram.

The calculator does not automatically fetch a live gold price. You must obtain a suitable current rate and enter it manually.

The result is an estimated metal value. It is not a jeweller’s buying or selling quotation.

If you are reviewing gold alongside your wider financial position, use the Singapore Tax Calculator separately. A gold-value estimate does not automatically represent taxable personal income.

How to Use the Gold Calculator

Select the purity that matches the gold item.

Enter the gold weight in grams. Use the weight of the gold itself where possible, without including gemstones or detachable non-gold parts.

Next, enter the current 24K gold rate in SGD per gram.

Select Calculate to see:

  • estimated gold value;
  • estimated pure-gold content;
  • purity used; and
  • calculation notes.

Use Reset before calculating another item.

The result excludes GST, making charges and retailer fees. When those amounts are known, the Singapore Service Charge and GST Calculator can help you calculate them separately.

Gold Value Formula

The calculator uses this formula:

Estimated gold value = Weight × 24K rate per gram × Purity factor

Pure-gold content is calculated as:

Pure-gold content = Weight × Purity factor

Common purity factors include:

  • 24K: 99.9% or 0.999;
  • 22K: 91.6% or 0.916; and
  • 18K: 75% or 0.750.

The selected purity should match the item’s reliable hallmark or supporting documentation.

The calculator does not test the item or confirm that the stated purity is genuine.

Gold Price Calculation Example

Suppose you want to estimate the metal value of 10 grams of 22K gold.

Enter:

  • purity: 22K;
  • weight: 10 grams; and
  • entered 24K rate: S$90 per gram.

First, calculate the pure-gold content:

10 × 0.916 = 9.16 grams

Next, calculate the estimated metal value:

9.16 × S$90 = S$824.40

The estimated gold metal value is S$824.40.

This does not mean a shop will buy or sell the item for exactly S$824.40.

If the gold forms part of an estate, its recorded or realised value may differ from this simple metal estimate. The Faraid Calculator Singapore can be used separately for an indicative Muslim estate-distribution calculation.

Enter the Gold Rate Manually

Gold prices can move throughout the day because of international market prices, currency movements and trading conditions.

The calculator does not have a live market feed. It uses only the 24K SGD-per-gram rate entered by you.

Before calculating:

  • check when the quoted rate was updated;
  • confirm that it is stated in SGD;
  • confirm that it is a per-gram rate;
  • check whether it is a buying or selling rate; and
  • make sure it applies to 24K gold.

Do not enter a price per troy ounce without converting it to a per-gram amount.

Metal Value Versus Jewellery Price

The displayed result estimates the value of the gold content.

A jewellery shop’s final selling price can also include:

  • workmanship or making charges;
  • design fees;
  • gemstones;
  • brand premium;
  • retailer margin;
  • GST where applicable; and
  • other service costs.

A buyer’s resale or trade-in offer may be lower because of testing costs, deductions and the dealer’s buying margin.

Ask for a price breakdown before completing a high-value purchase or sale.

Buying Price and Selling Price

Gold businesses may display different buying and selling rates.

The selling rate is normally the rate charged when a customer buys gold. The buying rate is the amount offered when a customer sells gold.

Using the selling rate can overstate the amount you may receive from a dealer.

Confirm which rate you are entering and treat the result as an estimate for that specific rate.

You can find other Singapore financial-planning tools through the Calculator Singapores homepage.

GST Treatment of Gold

Not every gold item receives the same GST treatment.

Qualifying Investment Precious Metals may be exempt from GST when they satisfy the required form, purity and other conditions.

Qualifying products can include certain investment-grade bars, ingots, wafers and prescribed coins. Jewellery, decorative products, scrap gold and non-qualifying coins do not become exempt merely because they contain gold.

The relevant conditions are explained by IRAS.

The calculator does not decide whether an entered gold item qualifies as Investment Precious Metal.

Gold Purchases and Tax Refunds

The displayed gold value does not include or confirm a tax refund.

A tourist refund can depend on the buyer, retailer, purchase amount, goods and applicable scheme conditions.

When you have the relevant purchase and GST figures, the Singapore Tax Refund Calculator can provide a separate estimate.

Do not subtract an expected refund from the gold value until eligibility and the refundable amount are confirmed.

Gold for Investment Planning

Gold can rise or fall in value.

This calculator shows the value produced by the entered rate. It does not forecast future prices, investment returns or currency movements.

Before treating gold as an investment, consider:

  • dealer spread;
  • storage costs;
  • insurance;
  • authenticity;
  • liquidity;
  • market-price changes; and
  • transaction charges.

Past gold-price movements do not guarantee future returns.

Keep Religious Calculations Separate

Gold valuation and religious obligations are different calculations.

The Fidyah Calculator Singapore estimates Fidyah for missed-fast scenarios using its own inputs.

Do not use the displayed gold value as a Fidyah amount unless an appropriate authority confirms that it is relevant to your circumstances.

Common Gold Calculation Mistakes

Avoid these common errors:

  • assuming the calculator supplies a live rate;
  • entering a non-24K rate in the 24K field;
  • using ounces instead of grams;
  • including gemstone weight;
  • selecting the wrong purity;
  • treating metal value as the retail price;
  • confusing the dealer’s buying and selling rates;
  • assuming every gold product is GST-exempt; or
  • treating the result as a guaranteed offer.

Verify the item’s weight, hallmark and accepted purity before relying on the result.
