BMI Calculator For Females Singapore

This calculator uses adult BMI screening ranges and is intended for women aged 18 and above.

BMI: –
Screening Range: –
Healthy Weight Range: –
Adult Asian BMI screening ranges: below 18.5 = underweight; 18.5–22.9 = healthy/low risk; 23.0–27.4 = moderate health risk; 27.5+ = high health risk.
Important: The BMI formula is the same for adult women and men; this page does not use a fake female-specific BMI formula.

Disclaimer: BMI is a screening tool for adults and may be less suitable during pregnancy, for very muscular people, or where individual medical assessment is needed.

What Is a BMI Calculator for Females Singapore?

A BMI Calculator for Females Singapore estimates an adult woman’s Body Mass Index using her height and weight.

It displays:

  • calculated BMI;
  • Singapore adult BMI screening range; and
  • height-based healthy weight range.

The calculator supports metric units such as kilograms and centimetres. It also supports imperial units such as pounds, feet and inches.

BMI is a screening measurement, not a diagnosis. It cannot directly measure body fat, muscle mass, fitness, nutrition or overall health.

For a general adult calculation, the BMI Calculator Singapore uses the same height-and-weight formula. This female page provides guidance focused on adult women, but it does not use a separate female BMI equation.

How to Use the Female BMI Calculator

1. Select Metric or Imperial Units

Choose the measurement system you want to use.

Select Metric to enter:

  • weight in kilograms; and
  • height in centimetres.

Select Imperial to enter:

  • weight in pounds;
  • height in feet; and
  • remaining height in inches.

Do not combine measurements from different systems. For example, do not enter a weight in pounds while the metric option is selected.

If you already have measurements in kilograms and centimetres, the BMI Calculator KG provides a calculation focused on metric inputs.

2. Enter Your Age

Enter your age in completed years. The calculator is intended for women aged 18 or above.

Age does not change the BMI formula or adult screening range used by this calculator. It is collected to confirm that the adult calculation is appropriate.

The BMI Calculator With Age also explains the role of age in adult BMI screening. Age can provide useful context, but it does not automatically make a standard BMI result personalised medical advice.

3. Enter Your Weight

Enter your current weight using the unit selected.

Use kilograms in metric mode or pounds in imperial mode. A recent measurement taken on a reliable scale will provide a more useful estimate.

Clothes, meals, hydration and time of day may cause small changes in measured weight. Use similar measurement conditions when comparing results over time.

4. Enter Your Height

Enter your height in centimetres when using metric mode.

In imperial mode, enter the full feet value and remaining inches separately. For example, a height of 5 feet 5 inches should not be entered as 5.5 feet unless the calculator specifically requests decimal feet.

Select Calculate BMI to view the result.

BMI Formula Used for Women

The standard adult BMI formula is the same for women and men.

For metric measurements:

BMI = Weight in kilograms ÷ Height in metres²

The calculator converts centimetres into metres before applying the formula.

For imperial measurements, pounds and feet/inches are converted into metric measurements internally. The same BMI formula is then applied.

The height-based healthy weight range is calculated as:

Lower weight = 18.5 × Height in metres²

Upper weight = 22.9 × Height in metres²

These limits follow the healthy adult screening range used in Singapore. They are general reference values, not required weight targets for every woman.

The BMI Calculator Male Singapore uses the same mathematical formula. Differences in body composition between individuals are not captured by BMI alone.

Female BMI Calculation Example

Suppose a 32-year-old woman enters:

  • weight: 60 kg;
  • height: 165 cm; and
  • unit system: Metric.

First, convert the height to metres:

165 cm = 1.65 m

Then square the height:

1.65 × 1.65 = 2.7225

Calculate BMI:

60 ÷ 2.7225 = 22.04

The displayed BMI would be approximately 22.0. This falls within Singapore’s healthy or low-risk adult screening range.

The calculator also estimates a healthy weight range for this height:

18.5 × 2.7225 = 50.4 kg

22.9 × 2.7225 = 62.3 kg

The displayed range would therefore be approximately 50.4 kg to 62.3 kg. It should be treated as a screening reference rather than an instruction to reach one exact weight.

Singapore Adult BMI Screening Ranges

Singapore uses adult Asian BMI ranges because health risks may increase at a lower BMI among Asian populations.

The calculator applies these ranges:

  • Below 18.5: Underweight
  • 18.5 to 22.9: Healthy or low health risk
  • 23.0 to 27.4: Moderate health risk
  • 27.5 and above: High health risk

These ranges and the BMI formula are explained by HealthHub.

A category does not prove that a person has or will develop a medical condition. Health professionals may also consider waist circumference, blood pressure, blood tests, medical history, lifestyle and changes in weight over time.

Is BMI Different for Women?

The adult BMI formula does not change according to sex. A woman and man with the same height and weight receive the same BMI.

However, BMI does not reveal how much weight comes from fat, muscle, bone or water. Two women with the same BMI can have different body compositions and health profiles.

Daily energy needs are also separate from BMI. The Calorie Calculator Singapore estimates calorie needs using age, height, weight, activity level and selected weight goal.

When Is This Calculator Less Suitable?

BMI may be less useful for women who are:

  • pregnant;
  • very muscular or athletic;
  • experiencing significant fluid retention;
  • living with a condition that affects weight or body composition; or
  • receiving treatment that changes weight.

Pregnancy weight assessment should not rely on the normal adult BMI ranges alone. The EDD Calculator Singapore estimates a pregnancy due date from the last menstrual period and cycle length, but it does not assess pregnancy weight or health.

This calculator is also not designed for children. A child’s BMI must be interpreted using age- and sex-specific references. Use the BMI Calculator for Kids for the supported school-age calculation.

Speak to a qualified healthcare professional if you are concerned about unexplained weight change, pregnancy, an eating disorder, nutrition or a medical condition.

Common BMI Mistakes

Do not enter centimetres in a field expecting metres, or pounds in a field expecting kilograms.

Measure height without shoes and use a recent weight where practical. Even a small height error can affect BMI because height is squared in the formula.

Do not treat the calculated healthy range as a compulsory appearance or weight target. BMI is only one screening measure.

You can find other purpose-specific tools on the Calculator Singapores homepage, but each result should be understood according to its own formula and limitations.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does the female BMI calculator calculate?

A: It calculates adult BMI from height and weight. It also displays the applicable Singapore screening range and a height-based healthy weight range.

Q2: Is there a separate BMI formula for women?

A: No. Adult women and men use the same standard BMI formula.

Q3: Does age change the result?

A: No. Age confirms that the user is an adult, but it does not alter the formula or category used by this calculator.

Q4: What is a healthy BMI for adult women in Singapore?

A: The healthy or low-risk adult screening range is generally 18.5 to 22.9. Individual health cannot be determined from BMI alone.

Q5: Can I use the calculator during pregnancy?

A: Standard adult BMI categories are less suitable during pregnancy. Ask a healthcare professional about appropriate pregnancy weight assessment.

Q6: Does BMI measure body fat?

A: No. BMI compares weight with height but does not directly measure fat, muscle, bone or fat distribution.

Q7: Is the result a medical diagnosis?

A: No. The result is a screening estimate and should not replace an individual medical assessment.
