Enter the rate you want to use from your bank, card, remittance provider or a reference source. The calculator does not hard-code a live rate because FX rates change continuously.
If you want a simple net estimate, enter a percentage deduction. Leave 0 if you only want the straight currency conversion.
Disclaimer: Currency conversion estimate only; actual bank, card, money-changer or remittance rates and fees may differ from MAS reference/interbank rates and can change at any time.
What Is a US Dollar to Singapore Dollar Calculator?
A US Dollar to Singapore Dollar Calculator converts an amount in US dollars into Singapore dollars.
You enter the USD amount and the SGD exchange rate for one US dollar. Optional percentage and fixed-fee fields can estimate how provider charges reduce the SGD received.
The calculator does not fetch a live rate. Its result depends on the rate and fees you enter.
You can find other locally focused tools on the Calculator Singapores homepage.
What Does the Calculator Show?
The calculator displays:
- Estimated SGD received
- Straight conversion before fees
- Reverse USD-per-SGD rate
- Entered USD amount and exchange rate
- Percentage deduction
- Fixed SGD fee
- Effective net rate after deductions
The net amount cannot fall below S$0, even if the entered deductions exceed the straight conversion.
How to Use the USD to SGD Calculator
1. Enter the Amount in USD
Enter the number of US dollars you want to convert.
The amount must be greater than zero. Decimals are allowed, so you can enter an amount such as 125.50.
2. Enter the Exchange Rate
Enter how many Singapore dollars are received for USD 1.
For example, enter 1.35 when the rate is:
USD 1 = SGD 1.35
Use a rate from your bank, card provider, remittance service, money changer or another reference source.
Exchange rates can change throughout the day. The calculator uses the entered rate and does not update it automatically.
Currency conversion and tax are different calculations. The Singapore Tax Calculator estimates common Singapore taxes and does not provide foreign-exchange rates.
3. Enter a Percentage Adjustment
This optional field represents a simple provider fee or spread deduction.
For example, entering 1.5 deducts 1.5% from the straight SGD conversion.
Leave the field at zero when you want a basic conversion without this adjustment.
4. Enter a Fixed Fee
Enter any fixed charge in Singapore dollars.
For example, enter 5 for an S$5 fee. Leave the field at zero if no fixed fee applies.
5. Convert USD to SGD
Select Convert USD to SGD to view the results.
Select Reset to clear the amount and rate. Reset also returns both fee fields to zero.
USD to SGD Formula
The straight currency conversion is:
Straight conversion = USD amount × SGD per USD exchange rate
The percentage deduction is:
Percentage deduction = Straight conversion × Fee percentage ÷ 100
Total deductions are:
Total deductions = Percentage deduction + Fixed SGD fee
The estimated amount received is:
Net SGD received = Straight conversion − Total deductions
The reverse rate is:
USD per SGD 1 = 1 ÷ Entered USD-to-SGD rate
The calculator also shows the effective net rate:
Effective net rate = Net SGD received ÷ USD amount
USD to SGD Calculation Example
Assume:
- USD amount: US$1,000
- Exchange rate: SGD 1.35 per USD 1
- Percentage adjustment: 1.5%
- Fixed fee: S$5
Straight conversion
US$1,000 × 1.35 = S$1,350
Percentage deduction
S$1,350 × 1.5% = S$20.25
Total deductions
S$20.25 + S$5 = S$25.25
Estimated SGD received
S$1,350 − S$25.25 = S$1,324.75
The calculator should show:
- Straight Conversion: S$1,350
- Estimated SGD Received: S$1,324.75
- Reverse Rate: approximately USD 0.740741 per SGD 1
- Effective Net Rate: SGD 1.324750 per USD 1
This example assumes the provider applies the entered percentage and fixed deductions in the same way as the calculator.
Where Can You Find an Exchange Rate?
Banks, card companies, remittance services and money changers can quote different rates at the same time.
The MAS reference shows indicative exchange-rate data. Its published figures are based on average interbank buying and selling rates quoted around midday in Singapore.
A reference or interbank rate may differ from the customer rate offered by a provider. Check the provider’s final rate and fees before completing a transaction.
Why Can the Final Amount Be Different?
The actual amount received may differ because of:
- Exchange-rate movements
- Provider spreads
- Transfer fees
- Receiving-bank charges
- Card foreign-currency fees
- Weekend pricing
- Intermediary-bank deductions
- Rounding
Some providers include their margin inside the quoted exchange rate instead of showing a separate percentage fee.
If the provider already gives a customer rate containing its spread, entering another spread adjustment may count the cost twice.
Comparing Currency and Other Values
Currency conversion only changes an amount from one currency to another. It does not calculate the price of an asset.
The Gold Price Calculator Singapore estimates gold value. Convert a foreign gold price separately only when the source price is actually quoted in USD.
GST and service charge are also separate. The Singapore Service Charge And GST Calculator estimates charges on a Singapore bill and does not convert currencies.
The Faraid Calculator Singapore estimates the estate remaining after entered expenses, debts and religious obligations. It does not convert currencies or determine beneficiaries’ inheritance shares.
Fidyah has a different purpose as well. The Fidyah Calculator Singapore estimates fidyah from applicable missed fasting days using the published 2026 Singapore rate of S$4 per day.
What the Calculator Cannot Determine
The calculator cannot determine:
- The current live exchange rate
- Which provider has the best rate
- Whether a fee is hidden in the quoted rate
- Intermediary or receiving-bank charges
- Future exchange-rate movements
- Transfer delivery time
- Tax treatment of a transaction
- The exact amount guaranteed by a provider
It also cannot convert SGD back to USD as a transaction. The displayed reverse rate is for reference only.
Common Currency Conversion Mistakes
Reversing the Exchange Rate
The rate field requires SGD per USD 1.
If USD 1 equals SGD 1.35, enter 1.35, not 0.740741.
Using an Old Rate
Foreign-exchange rates change continuously. Check when the quoted rate was last updated.
Counting the Spread Twice
Do not enter a separate percentage adjustment if the customer rate already fully includes the provider’s spread, unless you intentionally want another deduction.
Ignoring Fixed Charges
A fixed fee can have a bigger effect on a small transfer than on a large transfer.
Treating the MAS Rate as a Guaranteed Customer Rate
MAS reference data may differ from the rate offered by a bank, card, remittance provider or money changer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1: Does the calculator use a live USD-to-SGD rate?
A: No. You must enter the exchange rate you want to use.
Q2: What rate should I enter?
A: Enter the number of Singapore dollars offered for USD 1 by your chosen provider or reference source.
Q3: What does the percentage adjustment do?
A: It deducts the entered percentage from the straight SGD conversion.
Q4: In which currency is the fixed fee entered?
A: Enter the fixed fee in Singapore dollars.
Q5: What is the reverse rate?
A: It shows how many US dollars equal SGD 1 based on the entered rate.
Q6: Why is the effective net rate lower?

Q7: Can the actual provider amount differ?
A: Yes. The provider’s rate, fees, rounding and other charges may produce a different amount.
Q8: Is the result an official or guaranteed exchange quote?
A: No. It is an estimate based on the rate and deductions entered.
