BMI Calculator Male Singapore

This calculator uses adult BMI screening ranges and is intended for men aged 18 and above.

BMI: –
Screening Range: –
Healthy Weight Range: –
Adult Asian BMI screening ranges: below 18.5 = underweight; 18.5–22.9 = healthy/low risk; 23.0–27.4 = moderate health risk; 27.5+ = high health risk.
Important: The BMI formula is the same for adult men and women; this page does not use a fake male-specific BMI formula.

Disclaimer: BMI is an adult screening tool and may be less suitable for very muscular people or where individual medical assessment is needed.

What Is a BMI Calculator Male Singapore?

A BMI Calculator Male Singapore estimates an adult man’s Body Mass Index using his height and weight.

The calculator displays:

  • calculated BMI;
  • Singapore/Asian adult screening range; and
  • height-based healthy weight range.

You can enter metric measurements in kilograms and centimetres or imperial measurements in pounds, feet and inches.

BMI is a screening measurement. It cannot diagnose a health condition or directly measure body fat, muscle mass, fitness or fat distribution.

For general adult BMI guidance, use the BMI Calculator Singapore. This male page uses the same standard formula but explains factors that may be especially relevant when interpreting BMI for men.

How to Use the Male BMI Calculator

1. Select Metric or Imperial

Choose the measurement system you want to use.

Select Metric to enter:

  • weight in kilograms; and
  • height in centimetres.

Select Imperial to enter:

  • weight in pounds;
  • height in feet; and
  • remaining height in inches.

Do not mix units. If you want a calculation designed only for kilograms and centimetres, use the BMI Calculator KG.

2. Enter Your Age

Enter your age in completed years.

The calculator is intended for men aged 18 and above. It checks age to prevent the adult calculation from being used for a child.

Age does not change the BMI formula or the displayed adult screening range. The BMI Calculator With Age explains how age can provide context even though the standard adult equation remains unchanged.

3. Enter Your Weight

In metric mode, enter your weight in kilograms. For example, enter 75 if you weigh 75 kg.

In imperial mode, enter your weight in pounds. Use a recent measurement where practical and make sure the selected unit matches the value entered.

4. Enter Your Height

In metric mode, enter height in centimetres.

In imperial mode, enter complete feet and the remaining inches separately. For example, a height of 5 feet 9 inches should be entered as 5 feet and 9 inches.

Select Calculate BMI to see the results. Use Reset to clear the fields.

BMI Formula Used for Adult Men

The standard adult BMI formula is:

BMI = Weight in kilograms ÷ Height in metres²

For metric inputs, the calculator converts centimetres into metres before applying the formula.

For imperial inputs, pounds, feet and inches are converted internally into kilograms and metres. The same standard formula is then used.

The formula is not different for men and women. The BMI Calculator for Females Singapore performs the same mathematical calculation while providing female-focused limitations and guidance.

Male BMI Calculation Example

Suppose a 30-year-old man enters:

  • weight: 75 kg;
  • height: 175 cm;
  • measurement system: Metric.

Convert height into metres:

175 cm ÷ 100 = 1.75 m

Square the height:

1.75 × 1.75 = 3.0625 m²

Calculate BMI:

75 ÷ 3.0625 = 24.49

The calculator would display a BMI of approximately 24.5.

Under the Singapore/Asian adult ranges, 24.5 falls within the moderate health-risk screening range.

This does not mean that the person has a medical condition. It indicates that further attention to factors such as waist circumference, lifestyle, blood pressure and medical history may be useful.

Singapore Adult BMI Screening Ranges

The calculator applies these adult Asian BMI ranges:

  • Below 18.5: Underweight
  • 18.5 to 22.9: Healthy or low health risk
  • 23.0 to 27.4: Moderate health risk
  • 27.5 and above: High health risk

Singapore’s adult formula, ranges and major limitations are explained by HealthHub.

BMI is only one screening measurement. A healthcare professional may also consider waist circumference, blood tests, blood pressure, family history, medical conditions and changes in weight over time.

How Is the Healthy Weight Range Calculated?

The calculator estimates the weights that would produce a BMI between 18.5 and 22.9 at the entered height.

The formulas are:

Lower weight = 18.5 × Height in metres²

Upper weight = 22.9 × Height in metres²

For a height of 1.75 metres:

18.5 × 3.0625 = 56.7 kg

22.9 × 3.0625 = 70.1 kg

The displayed healthy BMI weight range would be approximately 56.7 kg to 70.1 kg.

This is a mathematical screening range, not an exact personal target. A muscular man may weigh more because of muscle rather than excess body fat.

BMI, Calories and Physical Fitness

BMI does not calculate how many calories a person needs. The Calorie Calculator Singapore separately estimates daily calorie needs using age, sex, height, weight, activity and the selected goal.

BMI also does not measure strength, stamina or exercise performance. The IPPT Calculator calculates an estimated result from entered push-up, sit-up and 2.4 km run points. A person can therefore have a particular BMI without it predicting an IPPT score.

Do not use a BMI result alone to make large changes to food intake or exercise. Consider sustainable habits and seek professional guidance when individual health concerns are involved.

When Is BMI Less Suitable?

BMI may be less suitable for:

  • bodybuilders and very muscular men;
  • competitive athletes;
  • people with significant fluid retention;
  • people experiencing an unexplained weight change; or
  • people with conditions affecting weight or body composition.

Muscle and fat can produce the same scale weight. BMI cannot separate them.

This adult calculator is not suitable for children. The BMI Calculator for Kids uses supported age- and sex-specific school-age references instead of adult ranges.

Adult BMI ranges may also be less suitable during pregnancy. The EDD Calculator Singapore estimates a due date from the last menstrual period and cycle length, but it does not assess pregnancy weight or health.

Common BMI Mistakes

Do not mix metric and imperial measurements. Check the active unit option before calculating.

Enter height accurately. Because height is squared, even a small error can change the result.

Do not assume that a high BMI always means high body fat. Muscular men may receive a higher result even when much of their weight comes from muscle.

Do not treat a healthy-range BMI as proof that no health risk exists. BMI does not show abdominal fat, blood pressure, cholesterol or fitness.

Other Singapore-focused calculators are available through the Calculator Singapores homepage, but each tool measures a different part of health or planning.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q1: What does the male BMI calculator calculate?

A: It calculates adult BMI from age, height and weight inputs. It also shows the Singapore/Asian screening range and a height-based healthy weight range.

Q2: Do men use a different BMI formula?

A: No. Adult men and women use the same standard BMI formula.

Q3: What is a healthy BMI for an adult man in Singapore?

A: A BMI from 18.5 to 22.9 is generally the healthy or low-risk adult range. BMI alone cannot confirm overall health.

Q4: Does age change the calculation?

A: No. Age confirms that the user is an adult, but it does not alter the formula or screening category.

Q5: Can muscular men rely on BMI?

A: BMI may overstate risk for very muscular men because it cannot distinguish muscle from body fat.

Q6: Does the calculator measure fitness?

A: No. It does not assess strength, stamina, cardiovascular fitness or exercise performance.

Q7: Is the result a medical diagnosis?

A: No. It is a screening estimate and should not replace an individual assessment from a qualified healthcare professional.
