An Annual Leave Calculator Singapore helps employees estimate paid annual-leave entitlement based on their length of service and yearly leave entitlement.

It is especially useful for employees who have worked only part of a year. The result is an estimate and should be checked against the employment contract and employer’s leave records.

How to Use the Annual Leave Calculator

Enter your employment start date and the other information requested by the calculator.

Add the annual-leave entitlement stated in your contract. Select Calculate to estimate the accrued or prorated leave.

Use Reset to perform another calculation.

Always check whether your employer calculates leave using a calendar year, anniversary year or another company leave cycle.

Who Is Eligible for Paid Annual Leave?

An employee covered by the Employment Act is generally entitled to paid annual leave after working for the employer for at least three months.

Employees who have worked for at least three months but less than a full year may receive prorated annual leave.

Your employment contract may provide more leave than the statutory minimum. In that case, use the contractual entitlement when completing the calculator.

Minimum Annual Leave in Singapore

The statutory minimum generally increases with each year of service:

  • First year: 7 days
  • Second year: 8 days
  • Third year: 9 days
  • Fourth year: 10 days
  • Fifth year: 11 days
  • Sixth year: 12 days
  • Seventh year: 13 days
  • Eighth year and after: 14 days

These are minimum entitlements. An employer may offer more annual leave.

How Is Prorated Annual Leave Calculated?

MOM uses this general method:

Completed months of service ÷ 12 × annual-leave entitlement

Only completed months are normally used in the prorated calculation.

If the final result contains a fraction:

  • less than half a day is generally disregarded; and
  • half a day or more is generally rounded up to one full day.

Prorated Annual Leave Example

Suppose a first-year employee has completed six months of service.

The statutory annual-leave entitlement for the first year is seven days.

6 ÷ 12 × 7 = 3.5 days

Because the result is half a day, it is generally rounded up to 4 days.

The employer’s leave cycle and a more generous contractual policy may produce a different result.

If working only part of a month also affects your salary, the Prorated Salary Calculator Singapore can provide a separate pay estimate.

Annual Leave and Other Employment Payments

Annual leave is paid leave. It should not be confused with unpaid leave, medical leave or maternity leave.

The Maternity Leave Calculator Singapore can help estimate maternity-leave dates separately.

Overtime hours also do not normally increase annual-leave entitlement. Use the Overtime Calculator Singapore when you need to estimate overtime pay.

If unpaid leave reduces wages, the salary used for CPF purposes may also be affected. The CPF Calculator Singapore can provide an estimate, but actual contributions should be confirmed from official records.

Can Annual Leave Be Used During a Notice Period?

An employee may take approved annual leave during a notice period.

Taking approved leave during the notice period does not automatically change the final employment date. Using annual leave to bring forward the last day of employment requires the employer’s agreement.

Always record the arrangement in writing.

Why Might the Calculator and HR Balance Differ?

The result may differ because of:

  • a different company leave cycle;
  • incomplete months of service;
  • leave already taken;
  • carried-forward leave;
  • a contractual entitlement above the legal minimum;
  • no-pay leave; or
  • the employer’s permitted rounding method.

Ask HR for a leave statement if the balance is unclear.

Q2: How many annual-leave days do I receive?

A: The statutory minimum starts at seven days in the first year and increases by one day for each additional year, up to 14 days from the eighth year onward.

Q3: Can my employer provide more than the statutory minimum?
